It was generally accepted that Paper 2 was harder than Paper 1 because the questions required more time to solve.
Subject-wise Difficulty level – Paper 1
Physics
Difficult Level: Moderate to Difficult
Topics Covered: The Physics paper covers Modern Physics, Mechanics, Optics, Electrodynamics, and Thermodynamics.
Students Reaction on Physics Question Paper 1
A lot of the questions addressed concepts in greater detail rather than only the simple steps involved. Many problems in math require you to spend long periods reading and carefully understanding the information provided. Most questions dealt with motion in a plane, electromagnetic induction, and the photoelectric effect. Some students grasped the concepts easily, while others found it somewhat hard since the questions were problem-based.
Chemistry
Difficult Level: Easy to Moderate
Topics Covered: The Chemistry paper covers organic Chemistry and some tricky questions from Physical Chemistry
Students Reaction on Chemistry Question Paper 1
Some questions from Physical Chemistry included both simple equations and an understanding of chemical kinetics and equilibrium. The questions in Organic Chemistry were related to reactions, whereas Inorganic Chemistry covered the main facts and concepts from the NCERT and coordination chemistry. Most students said that this part was the easiest to score well in and others found it easier and quicker than the others.
Mathematics
Difficult Level: Moderate to Difficult
Topics Covered: The Mathematics paper covers Algebra, Calculus, Probability, and Coordinate Geometry, Probability.
Students Reaction on Mathematics Question Paper 1
A number of the problems required well-defined algorithms and deep knowledge of mathematical formulas. Subjects covered during the exam included definite integration, matrices, and 3D geometry. Students said that they ran out of time to try every question given in the exam.

Subject-wise Difficulty level – Paper 2
Physics
Difficult Level: Moderate to Difficult
Topics Covered: The Physics paper covers Modern Physics, Capacitance, Thermodynamics, and Thermodynamics.
Students Reaction on Physics Question Paper 2
Being precise and working step by step helped a lot in the section.
Paper 2 had a more doable list of topics than Paper 1, but solid understanding was still required. It was very important to understand the concepts because most questions involved using several concepts at once. Those students who felt comfortable with the main ideas found this part of the course easier. In general, the paper was not difficult, yet it still required students to think accurately.
Chemistry
Difficult Level: Easy to Moderate
Topics Covered: The paper covers a higher number of complex organic questions, Organic reaction mechanisms, and coordination compounds.
Students Reaction on Chemistry Question Paper 2
There were many comments that Organic Chemistry questions in the Chemistry section of Paper 2 proved to be hard for most candidates. This part was mainly focused on questions involving mechanisms, changing functional groups, and naming reactions. It seemed that Physical Chemistry dedicated less time to calculations but asked questions focused on electrochemistry and thermodynamics. Many problems tested coordination compounds and p-block elements using different question formats. Many students felt that some MCQs were not clear, since there were two close options for the correct answer. Keep in mind that when working in this section, you may need more time than you initially planned for.
Mathematics
Difficult Level: Moderate to difficult
Topics Covered: The Mathematics paper covers complex numbers, vectors, and 3D Geometry.
Students' Reaction to Mathematics Question Paper 2
Mathematics on Paper 2 was seen as the most challenging subject in both papers. It dealt with topics like Vectors, Complex Numbers, 3D Geometry, Probability, Differential Equations and Integral Calculus. Many of the questions were very long and had several parts which made it almost impossible for students to finish them all on time. Students found that the format of the questions was lengthy and mainly assessed their skills in solving and applying logical problems. Even people who were well-trained for this section had a hard time completing it satisfactorily.

Student Feedback and Reaction
To get a better grasp of the difficulty and design of the papers, we collected feedback from candidates who sat for the JEE Advanced 2025 exam.
Paper 1 had a more balanced approach, but it demanded solid fundamentals in Physics and quick thinking in Maths. Students could gain some points in Paper 1 for Chemistry.
On the other hand, Paper 2 was a real test, especially in Mathematics. Many high achievers expressed that doing Maths problems on Paper 2 was more tiring.
Average score students stated that they ran out of time for each Subject but believed.
Time management turned out to be a common hurdle for many candidates.
The matrix match and multi-correct type questions in Paper 2 upped the ante.
Having a clear understanding of concepts and being quick yet accurate is crucial for tackling the JEE Advanced.
